Museum of Peasant Culture and Popular Traditions

A MUSEUM THAT ENCLOSES THE HISTORY OF POMARICO

Inaugurated in 1977, the Museum of Rural Culture and Popular Traditions is located in the Palazzo Marchesale. The technical report contained in the restoration project that involved the entire building imagined “the museum not as a simple display case or container of objects, but as a laboratory (…) dynamically active and open to the cultural, social and productive needs of the area and of the entire region”. A place in continuous evolution, therefore, capable not only of illustrating the spirit of the past, but also of communicating with the present in a continuous and uninterrupted exchange of suggestions between man and the environment. The numerous explanatory panels and photographic reproductions enrich the overall design, intercepting the needs of the contemporary visitor. The Museum is the cornerstone of an activity aimed not only at passive protection, but also at enhancing the many resources available to the area: historical, landscape, environmental, artisanal and food and wine.
