Culture

In the historic center of Pomarico, the eighteenth-century Palazzo Marchesale, or Donnaperna, stands out for its grandeur and artistic value. Its suggestive “pink salon”, with vaults finely painted in tempera, hosts numerous cultural events, some of which are dedicated to Antonio Vivaldi, whose grandfather was born right here. In the Castello district, the old Pomarico, the remains of the ancient fortress are kept, while the old church and the church of the Madonna del Monte stand out, together with some elegant buildings adorned with characteristic stone portals and wrought iron railings. Finally, real treasure chests of sacred art are the majestic mother church, dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo, and the church of Sant’Antonio da Padova, with the ancient annexed convent.
