Around Pomarico extends “La Manferrara”, a large and ancient forest of over 500 hectares which is the green lung of the area. Among the dense vegetation, secular oak trees and conifers, it is possible to come across butcher’s broom, broom and scented cyclamen plants and a remarkable variety of mushrooms. Rare specimens of porcupine and weasel, together with foxes, make up the fauna which, among the winged species, includes very rare species such as the black kite, the red kite and the short-toed eagle, as well as the more common black-headed bunting, sparrowhawk and kestrel .
